Resident Evil 4 Co-Op Mod Released After 21 Years [Confirmed]

The original Resident Evil 4 PC release has officially received its first fully functional two-player cooperative campaign mod after 21 years, allowing players worldwide to survive the Los Iluminados cult together through network synchronisation. According to verified reports from Game Rant, community developers successfully engineered synchronized peer-to-peer multiplayer directly into the classic 2005 survival-horror masterpiece. Players can now journey through rural Spain as a dual unit, controlling Leon S. Kennedy alongside a partnered operative while confronting hordes of Ganados, Chainsaw Villagers, and El Gigante. The mod synchronizes puzzle interactions, cutscenes, enemy AI aggro, and room transitions without corrupting the atmospheric survival pacing that defined the franchise for over two decades. While the acclaimed 2023 remake remains the definitive modern solo reimagining, this technical breakthrough offers retro speedrunners and cooperative enthusiasts an unprecedented reason to revisit the foundational survival classic. Much like recent retro preservation buzz surrounding the [Persona 1 Remake Leak: First Footage Surfaces [Confirmed]](/news/persona-1-remake-leak-confirmed), community modding showcases how classic gaming experiences continue thriving with modern connectivity.
