Phantom Blade Zero Backstreet Courtyard Key Location [Full Guide]

To find the Backstreet Courtyard Key in Phantom Blade Zero, players must reach the Mountain of Imprisonment area, interact with the couple near the Shrine Outer Gate, and complete the Ledger of Atonement quest. According to verified reports from PC Gamer, unlocking this elusive area requires precise navigation and completion of specific sub-quests rather than attempting to bypass barriers prematurely. Many players mistakenly believe the gate leads to Old Man Gen's house or the third acolyte scarecrow, but those locations require entirely different progression milestones. To access Old Man Gen's house and the third acolyte scarecrow, players must instead acquire the Flaming Mane phantom edge from the region boss, repair it alongside Lei Dang, and burn the barrier located near the Pond of Fading Song bell where Gu Wanyue, The Wailing Wraith, was previously defeated. Meanwhile, securing the actual Backstreet Courtyard Key demands delving into the Mountain of Imprisonment caves, uncovering the Ledger of Atonement, and returning to the NPC woman. Understanding these distinct routing paths prevents hours of wasted exploration and optimizes your journey through Pangzhen's most challenging zones.
