Best RTS Unit Winner: Mammoth Tank Takes Crown [Confirmed]

Command and Conquer's legendary Soviet Mammoth Tank was officially crowned the greatest RTS unit of all time after securing 52 percent of the final vote against Age of Empires' Priest in a month-long community bracket hosted by PC Gamer. The rigorous elimination tournament opened with sixteen iconic RTS combatants spanning three decades of strategy gaming history. Early rounds featured explosive showdowns where Warcraft's Peon decisively overwhelmed Rise of Legends' Glass Dragon before suffering an upset elimination. Age of Empires' conversion-focused Priest dominated its bracket side early, earning an eighty percent landslide in round one and toppling Red Alert 2's Dolphin in the semifinals. However, the Soviet heavy armor powerhouse proved unstoppable in the grand final duel. According to verified reports from PC Gamer, tens of thousands of dedicated strategy enthusiasts participated throughout the four tournament stages. While modern action releases dominate headlines—such as the recent [Phantom Blade Zero Steam Launch: 723K Peak Players [Confirmed]](/news/phantom-blade-zero-steam-launch-success)—this vote demonstrates the enduring legacy of 1990s real-time strategy design. The Mammoth Tank's dual cannons and surface-to-air missile pods established an immortal benchmark for RTS super-heavy combat units.
